Vine

Vine is a website and app that allows individuals to make looping videos.  This is also free and fun to use.  People make different types of vine videos, the most popular are the comedic video.  It’s fairly simply to use when ready to make a video simply press the icon that looks like a camera and follow vines walk through directions and once done press post.  You are also able to follow friend and strangers.

Social Networking

Facebook

Facebook has been around for a long time.  I have been a member since my freshman year of high school, when one had to be invited to become a member.  Facebook is the number one site for social networking.  It is the easiest social networking site to use and everything is straightforward.  Anything you need to know is right there in front of you.  Facebook is used as a way to keep up with what is going on around you.  It also keeps long lost friends in touch.  I would recommend this to anyone who would like to find old friends and family.

Classmates

Classmates is a free site that allows individual to connect with people they used to go to school with.  This site is easy and fun.  It brings back lots of old memories.  Using it is easy it allows you to follow a walk through method which is why it is so easy.  People who are not too good with the internet would be okay with using this site.  Very useful site.

Recipe Time! Fishy Delight...

The first recipe of the blog will include two of my favorite foods which are Salmon and Spaghetti!!  The recipe was taken from Foodnetwork.com  This is a quick, easy and deliciously healthy recipe.

The ingredients that you will need are:

1/2 pound whole-wheat spaghetti pasta
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more for seasoning
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 (4-ounce) pieces salmon
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoons capers
1 lemon, zested
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 cups fresh baby spinach leaves

This is what you will need to do with all of those delicious ingredients:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the pasta and cook until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain pasta and transfer to a large bowl. Add the garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine.

Meanwhile, warm the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Season the salmon with salt and pepper. Add the fish to the pan and cook until medium-rare, about 2 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fish. Remove the salmon from the pan.

Add the basil, capers, lemon zest, and lemon juice to the spaghetti mixture and toss to combine. Set out 4 serving plates or shallow bowls. Place 1/2 cup spinach in each bowl. Top with 1/4 of the pasta. Top each mound of pasta with a piece of salmon. Serve immediately.

This is what your meal should look similar to:

The Dazzle and Disease of Social Media

Social media has become very popular over the years, this has happened because technology has evolved beyond its means.  There are two articles that discuss the effects of social media today, they are “The Effects of Social Media How We Speak and Write” and “The Negative Effects of Social Media on Society and Individuals”.

The first article by Miles Young gives a lengthy amount of effects that are brought on by the epidemic of social media.  Young suggest that with the booming social media we are learning a new language.  This is indeed true.  Most of what we say are acronym of phrase with “LOL” being the most widely, well know text.  “LOL” stands for “laugh out loud”; people have gone so far to forget that it is only an acronym and uses it in verbal sentences.  Young also hits on the use of “textspeak” in replacement of correct grammar.  People have gotten so used to texting that in the professional or school setting they mistakenly spell out “what” as “wht” or “I’ll be right back” as “BRB”.

Brain Jung discusses more negative effects that social media has had on today’s society.  One major point that Jung talked about was cyber bullying.  Cyber bullying has become as serious as personal bullying, say in a school setting.  This type of bullying has become easier to engage in simply because with the internet you are able to stay anonymous.  Cyber bullying leads to suicide which is horrific.  Jung talks about the social media taking control of our real relationships.  Not having to connect in real ways with people face to face has been the number one outcome of advanced technology and social media.  Our real relationships are weaken because we spent more time connecting with strangers on dating site and other social networks like Instagram and Facebook.

Social media has good and bad prospects to it.  It can be very good at connecting long lost friends, connecting business partners who work at different ends of the world, or just connecting you to new things.  But it can also be a very bad thing; as Jung mentioned it is a cesspool full of cyberbullies.  It also lowers our ability to form new personal relationships (real relationships).  There should be a balance between social media and real life.

About me and my blog

My name is Alexandria Norwood I am a senior at Henderson State University.  I have not had the pleasure of living many places; the list consists of two places which are: Little Rock and Arkadelphia.  I enjoy a variety of activities like painting, dancing, cooking, exercising, volunteering, and helping others.  I am studying psychology and also minoring in French, I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree in May.  I am the second oldest of four sibling.  I have two brothers and one sister.  I decided to choose psychology as my field of study simply because I enjoy socializing with people, I also like to help and give any advice that seems suitable for the situation.  Psychology helps one understand how the brain and mind works but it also trains you on how to use the skills life has already given to you with other individuals.  When I am not studying for exams I enjoy volunteering as mentioned earlier.  Being able to help people is the most magnificent feeling I could experience, it’s even better not expecting anything in return for duties that were done.  Seeing that people are gracious for something I did is very rewarding.  Besides volunteering I very much enjoy trying to stay healthy and giving my body the nutrients that it needs to stay steady and strong.  This is one reason why I chose to become a pescetarian.  A pescetarian is an individual that does not consume flesh but only from fish and seafood.  The main reason I decided to take out other meats is because of my gastrological conditions.  I was diagnosed with GERD which is Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease.  With this blog I will share different recipes and give helpful facts ab4out meats, vegetables, and fruits.  This will allow anyone to gain knowledge about what they are putting into their beautiful bodies!
